Corm Germination Guide

Starting from a corm is a a rewarding way to grow a rare specimen. For best results:

1. Preparation: Gently peel away the dark papery outer skin of the corm to reveal the green/white tissue beneath (this helps prevent rot).
2. Substrate: Place the corm ‘pointy side up’ in a shallow container of damp sphagnum moss, perlite, or fluval stratum.
3. Humidity: Cover the container with a clear lid or plastic wrap to maintain near 100% humidity.
4. Heat & Light: Provide bright, indirect light and a heat mat if possible. Alocasia corms sprout fastest at temperatures between 22*C and 27*C.
